Faculty Workshops for Redesigning the Strategy and Innovation Course to Facilitate Core Undergraduate Assessment and Build Effective Core Assessment System

The Student Learning @ RIT Grant was used to facilitate faculty discussions to refine the common core goal, Creative Problem Solving and Design Thinking, across the undergraduate business programs and map core goals to course level instructional objectives.

Various course-level assignments were explored related to this goal.  A review of common course-level assignments (research papers, videos, and other sources) determined that standardized assignments would lend consistency to the assessment of student work in multi-section, discipline specific courses.  This recommendation was passed by the College’s UCC and College Executive Council.

The results will improve program level assessment in that the assessment of student work will enhance reliabiltiy and clarity of findings for continuous improvement.
