University Exploration Surveys: 2017 Surveys - Open Now!

NTID Supported Students

  • For those students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, make sure to let us know your learning support preferences for your classes in your "New Student Introduction" survey. RIT offers note taking, real-time captioning (c-print) and interpreter-supported classes.

Math Placement Exam: Exam is open May 15 - June 30, 2017

  • You are required to take the online Math Placement Exam (MPE). The exam is available 24 hours a day on-line beginning now through the entire month of June. Please prepare well for this exam which may include a review of your prior math courses, and plan to take this exam seriously! Placement in math classes may have a significant impact on your major selection.
  • Begin this exam as soon as you are able; if need be there may be a chance for you to retake this exam during the open period. More details can be found on the website below.
  • Visit https://www.rit.edu/science/mpe for all information and instructions.
  • Note: You are required to take the MPE regardless of any math transfer credit expected.

Writing Placement Exam: Exam Opens June, 2017

  • A limited number of students will be required to take the Writing Placement Exam (WPE)
  • All students needing to take this exam will have been emailed by the University Writing Program

  • Note: You are required to take the MPE regardless of any math transfer credit expected.

Advisor Phone Call, June, 2017

  • The staff of University Exploration will pre-enroll you for fall semester classes in July, 2017. Before enrollment, you will receive a call from a University Exploration advisor to discuss your current major interests so that we can best plan for those first courses. These calls will be made throughout June, so watch for this important first call from a University Exploration advisor!
  • An advisor will not call until both University Exploration surveys, listed above, have been completed. 
  • International Students and deaf or hard of hearing students can accomplish this through email or Skype—let us know your preferences for the meeting style in the your required surveys.

Enrollment for your Fall Schedule, July-August, 2017

  • All first-year students will be pre-registered for fall term courses in late July.
  • Your fall schedule of courses will be available in early August and you can view your schedule through the infocenter.rit.edu using your RIT computer account.
    • Any requests to edit or change your schedule must be done before Orientation.
    • You may contact our Senior Staff Specialist, Ms. Susan Lindsay, by e-mail at slbsse@rit.edu or call 585-475-5263 for any change requests and Susan will direct your inquiry to your advisor.
    • You can also contact your advisor directly.
