Farm Donations to Food Pantries Tax Credit

Beginning on January 1, 2018 a tax credit became available in order to reduce food going to waste and feeding hungry New Yorkers. This tax credit is meant to reduce the cost of donating edible produce traditionally left on farms.

There is benefit to be gained under this credit given that, “…each maximum credit equals $20,000 of fresh produce, a state expenditure of $1 million would result in $4 million worth of food going to New York’s emergency food programs.” [1]
