2018 Outstanding Alumnus

Retired Vice Chairman
of the Thomson Corporation

Brian H. Hall was an executive in the information and software industry and retired as vice chairman of the Thomson Corporation (aka Thomson-Reuters NYSE). Prior to that he was with the McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE) and served as executive vice president. He has served on the corporate boards of IHS (NYSE), Archipelago Learning (NASDAQ), first National Bank of Colorado Springs, and Ryerson of Canada.

2018 Volunteer of the Year

Retired Manager of Staff Recruitment at RIT

Kathy Carcaci retired from RIT in January 2018 after 52 ½ years of service. At the time of her retirement, she was manager of staff recruiting and RIT’s longest serving staff member. Kathy held seven different titles throughout her career and worked under six presidents, five vice presidents of finance and administration, and seven human resources directors. She was first hired in 1965 as an administrative assistant at RIT’s downtown campus.

2018 Distinguished Alumni Awardees

The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented annually by each of RIT’s nine colleges and the School of Individualized Study to an alumnus/a who has performed at the highest levels of his or her chosen profession or who has contributed significantly to the advancement and leadership of noteworthy civic, philanthropic or service organizations. It is the highest award an RIT college can bestow upon its alumni.

Anne (Constable) Marino '87 (FAA) designed a single-page brochure that received the 2018 CASE Circle of Excellence Award, Gold Level. Supporting Phillips Academy’s mission to provide “youth from every quarter” with access to its educational resources, this friendly summer session brochure was designed and written to encourage students from diverse social, cultural and economic backgrounds to apply.

Charles Sadler ’94 (CIAS) is delighted to be accepted into the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses growth program at LaGuardia Community College. The program is designed to teach small business owners practical business education, to facilitate collaboration with other business professionals, and to extend pathways for capital to help small businesses grow.

Molly Loar '11 (SOIS) marked five years with SPS: Swiss Post Solutions in August 2018 as a facilities and operations associate working with one of the firm’s clients, Digitas. She is based in their large Chicago office. From October 2017 to the present, she has also been successfully selling her personal artworks branded as Studio Mollusk, showcasing her paintings with two Argo Tea Café locations in downtown Chicago.
