Multicultural Alumni Programming

2015 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, Berta I. Rivera ’12 (CMS)

RIT is committed to providing opportunities of engagement and recognition for its growing multicultural alumni population. This targeted programming serves to bring together alumni through networking, community, sporting/cultural and family-friendly events within RIT’s established alumni chapters. Each year, approximately 30-40 events have been hosted in established chapters such as New York City, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Chicago, and Atlanta.

In 2011, the Office of Alumni Relations established multicultural alumni programming to encourage and increase a sense of community amongst RIT multicultural alumni to stay connected to RIT beyond the traditional class structure.

In 2014, three alumni of color were recognized as Distinguished Alumni from the College of Liberal Arts, College of Science and College of Imaging Arts and Sciences.

The 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient for the Center for Multidisciplinary Studies is Berta I. Rivera ’12. If you know an alumnus who has brought distinction to the college and RIT through their professional and/or community achievement nominate them TODAY!

We are always looking to improve our programming. To help us accomplish this, please take a seven-question survey to provide us with clubs/organizations that you were involved with as a student. With this information, we can begin to establish affinity groups in Rochester, as well as in our other alumni chapters.

Thank you for your continued support of this program, if you are interested in starting a multicultural alumni affinity group in your region, please contact Candi Boston ’09 at cabalum@rit.edu or call 585.475.4279.
