Wine - Thinking, Drinking, & Anthropology

Wine – Good to think, even better to drink: An anthropologist’s perspective.

Wine is one of the most celebrated and appreciated commodities around the world. Writers and scientists tell us much about varieties of wines, wine growing estates, the commercial value and the biochemistry of wine, but seldom address the cultural, social, and historical conditions through which wine is produced and represented. This webinar looks not only at the product, but also beyond this to disclose important social and cultural issues that inform the production and consumption of wine.

Dr. Ulin, professor in the department of sociology and anthropology in RIT’s College of Liberal Arts, and a recognized expert in wine and culture, will discuss the important cultural impacts of wine through history, and how you don’t have to be a wine aficionado to pick a good bottle.
