Richard DeMartino, Darren Mass /
Dr. Richard DeMartino is the Director of RIT's Simone Center for Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He holds the Albert J. Simone Endowed Chair for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and is a professor in the Department of Management, International Business, and Entrepreneurship in the Saunders College of Business. In his capacity at the Simone Center, he works to develop diverse and inclusive experiential and multidisciplinary innovation and entrepreneurship activities, and promotes and facilitates innovation and entrepreneurship activities throughout the RIT community. His innovations include collaborative efforts founding and administering the Saunders College of Business Accelerator Program (formerly the Summer Start-up Program), the Technology Commercialization Clinic, the Small Business Strategic Growth Program, and the Digital Entrepreneurship Program.
A native of New York, Daren Mass BS '03 received a telecommunication engineering degree from the College of Engineering Technology. He started his early career serving in the Network Operations Center at PAETEC Holding and later on promoted as Senior Leadership of the company. In 2008, he left PAETEC Holding and founded Mass Communications, a New York-based company which provides telecommunications and connectivity management services. He served as the CEO of the company for more than ten years until the company was acquired by Windstream Holdings in 2018 in an all-cash transaction for $37.5 million. He founded a consulting business, d.dotmass, which specializes in improving business health by treating operational, marketing, sales, and financial disorders. Darren is currently considering leading a start-up focused on the esports industry.
