Building a Collegiate ESports Program: RIT Esports

ESports, or live video game competitions, are changing what it means to be an athlete. People are flocking to fill arenas just to watch teams play teams go head to head or can stream competitions online from the comfort of their own home. Live sport culture is transitioning to an online medium - ESports players are selling merchandise, getting sponsorships or scholarships, and developing useful skills.

Students, alumni, faculty and staff came together to create one of the top Esports programs in the nation. Join us, Chad Weeden, Director of Esports and CyberSecurity Range (CSR) and alumni Tyler Schrodt, founder of Electronic Gaming Federation, to view the evolving structure of RIT Esports as well as what it has accomplished, and a glimpse of what the future of esports might hold.
