Campus Expansion Adds to Community

RIT’s long–anticipated college town development opens this summer. The $72 million project now know as Park Point at RIT is located on a 60–acre site at the corner of John Street and Jefferson Road. The privately owned and managed project includes a blend of retail businesses and housing.

Key among the businesses is Barnes & Noble @ RIT, a 40,000 square foot, two–story bookstore similar to the other Barnes & Noble locations. It will also carry textbooks and other merchandise formerly available at RIT’s Campus Connections bookstore, which will close.

Giving to RIT

A Record Year for the Fund
Alumni have really come through for RIT this year. As of today, we have counted over 8,555 alumni donors – 18% more than last year – and there are still a few more gifts (postmarked June 30) waiting to be booked. This is the highest response to RIT’s annual campaign for as far back as we have records. Those gifts along with gifts from parents, friends, students, etc., total over $3,600,000 – 19% more than last year. Again, among the highest amounts ever recorded in RIT’s annual giving history. THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN!

The final alumni figures break out like this: 66% were donors who repeated their support from last year; 13%"came back" after several years; and 21% (just over 1,800) are brand new donors! Most interesting is that we had nearly 1,000 online gifts over the entire year – about 60% came in during June, and 33% during the last eight days of June!

No matter what the size of your gift – you made a wonderful thing happen. THANK YOU AGAIN for your record–breaking response!

Our 2008–2009 Fund for RIT campaign is gearing up, and we hope you continue to respond when we contact. Your consideration and support means so much to RIT and its students.

Jimmy Fallon Named Headline Comedian

Jimmy Fallon first garnered attention in 1998 when he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live and quickly became an audience favorite for his impressions of Jerry Seinfeld, John Travolta, Adam Sandler and musical impressions of Pearl Jam, Counting Crows, The Cure and Alanis Morissette. Fallon created many memorable recurring characters during his six–year stint on SNL, and made history by becoming the co–anchor of the popular segment Weekend Update alongside Tina Fey. He has appeared in other television roles, including the Emmy award–winning miniseries Band of Brothers, has hosted several MTV awards shows, and earned rave reviews as guest host for David Letterman during the summer of 2003. Fallon has appeared in several feature films, including Almost Famous and Fever Pitch, and will star in the comedy The Year of Getting to Know Us, due to be released nationwide in October 2008.
