RIT’s New President Welcomes Most Diverse Freshman Class to Date
Dr. David C. Munson Jr. began his presidential tenure by welcoming RIT’s most diverse freshman class of about 2,800 students. Preliminary data indicates that 29 percent of the first-year class self-identified as people of color, up from nearly 27 percent last year. Deaf and hard-of-hearing students make up 8.5 percent of the new class. Approximately 73 percent of the total incoming class will be entering STEM majors. About 69 percent of underrepresented minority students and 56 percent of female students will enter STEM programs.

DID YOU
KNOW?
You can lower your capital gains tax with a charitable gift?

Indeed you can. A gift to a qualified charity of appreciated stocks, bonds, and/or mutual fund shares—that you’ve held long term (more than one year)—allows this. You can reduce or eliminate entirely the capital gains tax that you would have incurred had you sold the shares yourself.

ROAR Day is coming: October 3, 2017

ROAR (Raise Our Annual Responses) Day is RIT’s annual day of giving. It’s an opportunity for the RIT community to participate and learn about the importance of giving back and supporting their favorite area of RIT. This year, members of the RIT community are inspiring their fellow Tigers to give with challenges throughout the day. Any gift made on ROAR Day will help conquer the Ultimate Challenge: 3,200 donors in 24 hours.
More than 7,000 food items donated.

The RIT FoodShare Program has received over 7,000 items of food since its launch in 2015. It exists to address food insecurity amongst students, faculty, or staff at RIT. Any member of the RIT community can visit the Center to donate non-perishable items, swap out items they have for those they want, and/or take items they need.
