Austin McChord ’09 Makes Largest Gift in RIT History

Austin McChord, a 2009 alumnus and founder and CEO of data protection firm Datto Inc., announced alongside President David C. Munson and President Emeritus Bill Destler that he would make an unprecedented gift of $50 million to RIT at a press conference on December 13, 2017.

While in Washington, D.C., President David C. Munson sat down with Clayton P. Turner ’90, Deputy Director of NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va. Turner directs NASA’s research for developing solutions to challenges ranging from climate change and access to space to air travel and future aviation vehicles. Turner has received the NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal, the NASA Exceptional Engineering Achievement Medal and the Paul F. Holloway Non-Aerospace Technology Transfer Award.

During the New York City leg of his Tiger Tour, President Munson chatted with Katie Linendoll ’05, an Emmy Award-winning TV personality, writer, tech expert, and global tech consultant. Katie is probably best known for her role as a tech contributor on the TODAY Show, but she is also contributing as a tech expert on a variety of platforms including ESPN, Fox News, Headline News Network, and The Weather Channel. She is also the founder of Katie Linendoll Productions.
