Ellen Granberg Named Provost and Sr. Vice President for Academic Affairs

RIT has named Ellen Granberg as its new provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs. Granberg, who is currently serving as senior associate provost at Clemson University, joins RIT on August 19 and will be the first woman in the university’s history to serve as provost, the university’s top academic officer.

New Golisano Institute for Sustainability Lab Named in Honor of Sudhakar ‘Bal’ Dixit

The university is deeply grateful to former trustee Sudhakar “Bal” Dixit ’74 (SCB). Thanks to his generous gift, the Golisano Institute for Sustainability’s Bal Dixit Laboratory for Advanced Materials and Fire Protection Research was recently opened.

Jason Babcock ’00, MS ’02 (CIAS) is the CEO of Positive Science, a startup working with RIT Venture Creations Incubator. He recently won $250,000 through the Luminate Accelerator program. Molecular Glasses, also from Venture Creations, won a $10,000 prize.

Ian Mortimer ’04 (MBA), who has 25 years of experience in higher education, has been named vice president of Enrollment Management at Rochester. “The current conditions for successful enrollment management requires a campus-wide collaborative perspective and context,” Mortimer said following the hiring.
