Beyond the Pumpkin Spice Latte

It’s that time of the year again. The leaves are changing, pumpkin patches are springing up, and the pumpkin spice latte has officially made its comeback. If you love cooler weather and the thought of Halloween right around the corner, we’re sure you’ll love all of the seasonal drinks RIT Dining Services has to offer. From espresso to non-caffeinated, here is your ultimate fall drink list to look out for within the next few weeks.

Midnight Oil

Located in the Global Village plaza next to Crossroads, Midnight Oil is the perfect place to satisfy your fall drink cravings. Open from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, grab some friends, sit near the fireplace, and enjoy your drinks. This fall, Midnight Oil will be offering Pumpkin Spice Lattes (of course), Salted Caramel Mochas, and Maple Pecan Lattes. Here’s what’s in each of these fun espresso drinks (all are also available as frappuccinos):

Grande Pumpkin Spice Latte:
  • 4 pumps pumpkin spice syrup
  • 2 shots espresso
  • Steamed milk of your choosing (almond, soy, regular)
  • Whipped cream
  • Pumpkin spice
Grande Salted Caramel Mocha: 
  • 4 pumps mocha syrup
  • 4 pumps toffee syrup
  • 2 shots espresso
  • Steamed milk of your choosing (almond, soy, regular)
  • Whipped cream
  • Salt
  • Caramel drizzle
Grande Pecan Latte:
  • Maple pecan sauce
  • 2 shots espresso
  • Steamed milk of your choosing (almond, soy, regular)
  • Autumn sugar topping

Aside from espresso drinks, Midnight Oil offers a wide variety of teas to warm you up on a cool, autumn day. The available teas are posted on a sign right next to the register, check it out!

Artesano

If you move from the Global Village plaza into the Student Alumni Union (SAU), you’ll stumble across Artesano. Located right next to Bytes, this quaint coffee shop offers plenty of drink options that will warm you up this fall. The coffee shop is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturdays, and is closed Sundays. From chai tea lattes, to matcha tea lattes (that are served year round), look out for hot apple cider that will be joining the menu soon. It’s perfect if you aren’t in the mood for espresso, but still want to embrace the fall season. Not in the mood for cider? Add some pumpkin syrup to your coffee for a fall twist on a classic beverage!

Beanz

Whether you live in the residence halls or not, Beanz coffee shop (located next to the entrance of Gracie’s), has plenty of seasonal beverages coming soon. Open 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, it’s the perfect place to grab a beverage on your way to your 8:00 a.m. Like Artesano, Beanz will also be offering hot apple cider and pumpkin mochas this fall. Aside from hot apple cider, Beanz is always stocked with a variety of teas, to ensure that there is something for everyone to enjoy, along with caramel apple and butterscotch coffee. Some other drinks to look forward to include;

Charlie Brown Milkshake:
  • Cinnamon syrup
  • Pumpkin syrup
  • Whipped cream
  • Cinnamon
  • Ice cream
Chai Milkshake:
  • Chai tea base
  • Vanilla
  • Cinnamon
  • Ice cream
  • Whipped cream

College Grind

Located in the base of the Community Service for the Deaf (CSD) Student Development Center, the College Grind offers many of the drinks that you can find across campus at Midnight Oil. Open from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the College Grind has pumpkin spice lattes, salted caramel mochas, and maple pecan lattes this season (look under Midnight Oil above for ingredients). Soy, almond, and coconut milk are available as well.
