If you are age 21 and older, you are probably familiar with the late night bus on Saturdays to East Avenue and Alexander Street. The Saturday evening bus is in partnership with RTS, to ensure students enjoy their nights out in the safest way possible, while preventing individuals from drinking and driving. This has been a widely successful service that has been readily utilized by many students.
We are extremely excited to announce that after presenting the idea in a collaborative meeting last semester, a late night bus was approved and will begin running from RIT to Park Avenue on Friday evenings as well! The department of Finance and Administration is funding this shuttle. This is also in partnership with RTS to ensure safety of our campus community.
The late night bus on Friday to Park Avenue will have similar pickup locations as the Saturday night bus to East Avenue and Alexander Street. Pickup locations on RIT’s campus include; Barnes & Noble, Colony Manor, Perkins Crosswalk, Lot K South, Tyler, Riverknoll (S Lot), and Park Point North. View the actual bus schedule here. All students may ride the late night bus to Park Ave for free with a valid RIT student I.D., so don’t forget to bring it with you!
The bus will start running Friday, January 25 through May 3, 2019. While we are ecstatic that RIT Finance and Administration is able to provide transportation for students to enjoy weekend activities, we still advise all students to partake in all activities as safely as possible. RIT expects all students riding the bus to maintain the same level of respect as you would on campus. This is something RIT has never done before, and we are excited to see how it goes. Remember drink safely, travel in groups and never leave friends! Have fun on Friday night!
