Transnational Digital Creation Workshop with l’Université de Paris 8
During fall semester 2020, three teams of RIT graduate and advanced undergraduate students joined graduate students at l’Université de Paris 8 students to develop creative digital installations of their own design. Joining in an innovative transnational workshop-laboratory organized with Professor Philippe Bootz at l’Université de Paris 8 with funding from the French ArTec Graduate Education Initiative, RIT students collectively explored creative possibilities of digital creation ‘beyond the screen’ using AR/VR, sensing devices (Kinect, Makey Makey, Leapmotion), text generators, and other digital tools with their French partners.
This workshop was offered in Spring 2020 and in Fall 2018. In Fall 2018, the Transnational Workshop included student teams' travelling to Paris in January 2019 for an intensive week producing their digital installations at La Tour Montparnasse. Due to travel restrictions in 2019 and 2020, the last two sessions of this Transnational Digital Creation Workshop have been carried out remotely.
