Visiting Assistant Professor
Department of Performing Arts & Visual Culture
Andy Head is a Visiting Assistant Professor with the Department of Performing Arts and Visual Culture. Since joining the department in the Fall of 2016, he has directed Love’s Fire: Seven Plays Inspired by Seven Shakespearean Sonnets (2016), collaborated with the RIT Orchestra on an adapted version of Peer Gynt (2017), and directed Stupid F*cking Bird by Aaron Posner (2018).
Andy completed his graduate studies at Michigan State University. While there he developed interests in Shakespeare’s work, the canon of American dramatists, devised theatre, and using theatre as a tool for community outreach. Andy has acted professionally with the Michigan Shakespeare Festival, New Harmony Theatre, Summer Circle Theatre, and the Williamston Theatre. Most recently, he appeared locally in the Rochester Fringe Festival and with Wallbyrd Theatre Company.
Andy also carried his theatre outreach work to Ghana, where he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer for two years and created educational theatre pieces with members of his community. Before joining the RIT faculty, Andy taught for the Performing Arts Department at the University of Southern Indiana.
