Julia comes to us from Millersville University where she was a Residential Area Director. Prior to that position she was an Assistant Director in Residence Life at Gettysburg College. Julia has an invested interest in blending student affairs and academic affairs. While working in residence life, she helped students to develop and grow living-learning communities, and she wrote residential curricula for first and second year students. Julia's research interests focus on religious, secular, and spiritual identities. She is specifically interested in how universities support students of minoritized religions and how the students cultivate a sense of belonging on campus. Julia earned her B.S. degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences at Virginia Tech and M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Iowa State University.
Julia is a lifelong fan of Dolly Parton and has been to Dollywood many times. Julia is an avid reader, focused on reading #OwnVoices stories. Her favorite author is Octavia Butler. Julia also loves to take her basset hound, Belle, on long hikes.
