Bio

Kathleen is the Assistant Director for Student Success in GCCIS Advising. Kathleen came to GCCIS in the fall of 2011 as an academic advisor in the School of Interactive Games and Media. Previously, she worked in the RIT Center for Residence Life for four years. Kathleen has additional work experience in Career Services and Campus Life at SUNY Brockport and was a Registration and Advising Assistant in the College of Liberal Arts here at RIT. Kathleen has a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from St. Bonaventure University and an M.S.Ed. in Counselor Education from The College at Brockport. Kathleen is also a Student Conduct Advocate and Mentor and a member of the United Way Steering Committee at RIT.

Originally from Buffalo, Kathleen is a Buffalo Bills fan and cheers on the team with her husband and their son. She enjoys reading, taking walks and spending time with her nephew and nieces.

A one credit-hour course for the Computing Exploration students, including an overview of the computing disciplines and an introduction to seven computing and informatics academic programs: Computer Science, Computing and Information Technologies, Computing Security, Human-Centered Computing, New Media Interactive Development, Software Engineering, Web and Mobile Computing, as well as a few other computing programs outside the college. Curricula requirements of the seven programs and career opportunities in the computing fields are discussed. Potential employers discuss job opportunities. Introductions to the faculty, students, and laboratory facilities of the seven programs are provided. Cooperative education, study abroad, and innovation fellowship program opportunities available to the students are explored.
