Summer 2020 Study Abroad

(faculty-led, exchange, global campus, and affiliate programs)

Due to the disruption caused by the pandemic, RIT has made the difficult decision to cancel all summer faculty-led, exchange, global campus and affiliate programs. This decision has been made to ensure the health and safety of students and faculty, as well as to provide a level of near-term certainty for all involved.

You will receive a full refund of the program fee and deposit. Any financial aid or scholarships that have been granted for this experience may be modified or rescinded. However, we cannot refund any out of pocket expenses, such as airfare. We recommend that you work with your airlines to learn your options for canceling or changing flights. RIT is happy to provide letters of support should they assist in your appeal processes.

Spring/summer travel enhancement faculty-led programs: You will remain enrolled in and complete the course and there will be no change to your tuition cost or financial aid. We have asked your faculty to make modifications to the remaining course activities so that you can complete the course requirements without the travel portion. The faculty members will be following up to provide you with further instructions. RIT has extended the last date to Withdraw to the last day of classes so you may choose to withdraw from this course. Before you do so, consult with your Financial Aid Assistant Director to ensure your financial aid is not impacted.

Summer only programs: We understand that the inability to earn these credits this summer may impact your plans for graduation. Please reach out to your academic advisor as soon as possible to map out alternate strategies.

Students Applying to Fall 2020 Programs and Academic Year 2020-21 Programs

Fall and Academic year programs are currently continuing as planned. Many programs are modifying their cancellation policies and extending fall deadlines in order to be more accommodating. We do not recommend that you make any financial commitments such as deposits or flight purchases at this time. If you make these financial commitments and RIT or affiliates cancel their programs, RIT cannot reimburse you for lost funds. We recommend having a backup plan in case you are unable to travel this fall.
