Why Annual Giving Matters

Your gifts make your college great!

Gifts to the annual fund are often directed to one of RIT's nine colleges to support a variety of activities and academic needs. These gifts are critical to our colleges in helping them perform the "daily work" of educating our students, and directly impacts the quality of RIT's degree programs.

Just a few of the areas impacted by gifts to our academic programs are:

  • Student Scholarly Activities – gifts support student research activities, travel for educational purposes, and real-world learning through internships and other off-campus activities.
  • Faculty Research – gifts support our faculty members' important and rigorous work in research and scholarship. Funding supports travel, research expenses, start-up funds, document acquisition, and other costs associated with faculty scholarship.
  • Equipment – annual fund gifts are an important source of funding to upgrade the technology that is so important to study at RIT. Some gifts support laboratory equipment to make students familiar with the technologies and tools they will encounter on the job. Others support equipment such as computers, printers, and other elements needed for the effective operation of a college.

Last year, RIT received more than $7,500,000 for the academic needs of our colleges. This funding is invaluable in making the RIT experience for today's students as strong as it was for our alumni!
