Prior to entering teaching, David Egleston held management positions in the restaurant and hotel industries in the United States and Asia for more than ten years and engaged in business and cross-cultural consulting based on his experiences.
As the Chair of the Department of Business and Management, he seeks to increase the number and improve the quality of educational opportunities for RIT-Dubai students. His focus is on developing the skills that industry needs in new employees and instilling in his students an appreciation for the need for continuous, lifelong learning. Today's work world is characterized by rapid change. David helps young adults learn how to learn so they can compete.
David has taught at every level of higher education. In addition to teaching undergraduate students, he has extensive experience mentoring graduate and doctoral students. His approach to teaching is interdisciplinary with a healthy dose of real-world work examples.
As a doctoral student, David engaged in research funded by the US Office of Naval Research, the US Department of Defense, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the State of Kansas, and the automobile insurance industry.
His research has been presented at numerous professional conferences, including at the US Pentagon, and published in several journals. David's research deals with leadership, work-life balance, and building high-performing teams.
