Academic Advising at RIT Dubai
Academic Advising at RIT Dubai is a partnership between students and their advisors to support students in developing and reaching their personal and academic goals. Academic advisors are an important part of each student’s support network at the university. Together, advisors and advisees collaborate in an ongoing process throughout the RIT Dubai journey, starting on Orientation Day and continuing until Graduation Day. Using a student-centered approach, advisors and advisees work together to develop plans and strategies toward student success.
In addition to required advising meetings through the Mandatory Advising process, there are many opportunities for students and their advisors to interact and build a strong relationship of collaboration. Academic advisors serve as a first point of contact for any academic concerns within the university, including course enrollment, academic difficulties, academic policies, and educational opportunities and resources.
Faculty Advising
Each student is also assigned a faculty advisor, who is a faculty member in their home department. Faculty advisors are valuable resources in guiding students regarding more professional and technical aspects of their program. They approve cooperative education experiences, and also provide guidance on decisions regarding graduate school and careers in the field. Faculty and academic advisors work together to provide students a comprehensive network of support at the university.

Getting in Touch
Advisors are available by appointment as well as for drop-in meetings. If you have any academic concerns, you are advised to reach out earlier rather than later so there might still be time for you and your advisor to work out a plan of action. You can find your advisors listed on SIS (https://www.rit.edu/infocenter/) (click on the “Advisors” tile).
