Omar Abdul-Latif is currently a Lecturer at the Electrical Engineering Department at RIT Dubai. Prior to that, he worked as a researcher and part-time Instructor at the University of Bath (UK) and as a full-time lecturer at Michigan State University, Dubai, and as an adjunct lecturer at the American University of Dubai. Mr. Abdul-Latif has more than ten years of experience in teaching and research with more than 20 published papers in peer-reviewed International Journals and Conferences in the field of Signal/Image Processing for Telecommunication and Radar Applications especially in the field of SAR and ML-based telecommunication systems.

RIT Dubai team supervised by O. M. Abdul-Latif has won 1st place in the "Electrical & Electronics Engineering Category" of the 6th United Arab Emirates Undergraduate Research Competition. 30th of April 2018 at Abu Dhabi University, Khalifa City Campus.
His research area is in signal/image processing for telecommunication and radar applications with interest in applying AI and machine learning to create enhanced systems. He has worked with different wireless systems where the detection was enhanced using the machine learning technique of Support Vector Machine (SVM). Furthermore, he has created and published a new technique for enhancing Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging using Superimposed FFT technique.
