Studies show amplifying others amplifies yourself!

Get ahead by praising others. Professor Kristin Bain's research has caught the attention of national outlets such as Forbes,  Business Insider, and CNBC, as well as Adam Grant, an influential business leader, and local Rochester media.

Endorsing your colleague's idea at work is beneficial for both of you! Why? Amplification - the public endorsement of another person's idea with attribution.

Kristin Bain, Ph.D., assistant professor of management, co-authored a recent study titled "Amplifying Voice in Organizations" in the Academy of Management Journal, which discovered this approach and found that this technique can boost influence and benefits career growth.

Bain and her co-authors studied almost 2,800 people and found that "those who repeated or praised another's idea during a meeting were viewed as more admired and influential than those who amplified their own ideas or stayed quiet. The person on the receiving end also benefited."
