Experiential Learning
At RIT, experiential learning opportunities allow you to apply what you have learned through projects, lectures, assignments, and a variety of rich experiences outside the classroom. This can be done through a co-op experience, undergraduate research projects, community engagement, or international experiences.

Fraternity and Sorority Life
Each of our 31 Greek Organizations identifies service to the community as a core tenet of their values, brought to fruition through the efforts of both undergraduate and alumni members. Our members participate in community-wide service opportunities with one another to benefit the greater Rochester community. In 2020, Fraternity and Sorority Life at RIT accumulated a total of 12,380 service hours and committed to bettering our community by raising over $56,000 that was donated to various non-for-profit organizations they support.
Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement
The Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement
creates and supports learning opportunities that focus on addressing community issues and enhancing the skills necessary to become the next generation of leaders. Through a number of programs and learning opportunities, you will have the opportunity to explore the community, engage in community service, and develop leadership skills.
Deaf Culture at RIT
One of the most unique aspects of RIT is that it is home to the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID); more than 1,200 deaf and hard-of-hearing students study at RIT. Hearing students will interact with the Deaf community in courses, residence halls, and at campus events. There are many ways hearing students can be involved in Deaf culture, including taking ASL courses and learning through peer-to-peer opportunities like No Voice Zone.
