As you prepare for your arrival on campus, familiarize yourself with important RIT resources and safety protocols.
- RIT Alert
RIT Alert is used to immediately notify the campus community if there is an emergency on or near campus. Students will be notified via text message and will be automatically enrolled by using their information that is in our Student Information System (SIS).
- TigerSafe App
TigerSafe provides a quick and safe way to get in touch with Public Safety, utilizing an app built by RIT students. It acts as a blue light box, similar to the ones you will find throughout the campus, to help Public Safety locate you if you need help.
- Tigers Care
Not only do we care about your physical safety, but your emotional and mental health as well. Tigers Care is a campus-wide effort to enhance, promote, and sustain a culture of caring and support at RIT. We have an online reporting tool available for you to report a concern about a friend’s well-being or to report an incident.
Talk through any concerns you have about your safety and identify a plan to keep safe. Here are some ideas:
- Use the buddy system – don’t walk alone at night
- Do not carry valuables and leave them unattended
- Lock your door
- Pay attention to your surroundings
