Hello Tigers,
My name is Amy Stornello and I am the director of the Summer Vestibule Program (SVP). I’m so excited to welcome you to this orientation program for all deaf and hard-of-hearing students!
SVP is scheduled for Aug. 15-17, 2021, prior to the start of RIT Orientation. You are required to attend SVP to make sure you have a smooth transition to the RIT community. During SVP you will:
- Begin building relationships with other incoming deaf and hard-of-hearing students, faculty, and staff
- Participate in interactive sessions, small group activities, and recreational events
- Meet current deaf and hard-of-hearing RIT/NTID students
- Learn about the access and support services available to you at RIT including interpreting, captioning, and notetaking services as well as specialized tutoring, personal and career counseling, and academic advising.
Move-in is on Sunday, Aug. 15 from 8 a.m.- Noon. You can learn more on the RIT Housing portal. Information will also be sent to your RIT email account in July, so be sure to activate it by visiting google.rit.edu so that you don’t miss out on important next steps, webinar information, and other resources that will help you in your transition to RIT.
I also invite you to visit the SVP website to find a complete list of all the steps you need to take before arriving for SVP.
RIT is requiring all students to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before their arrival on campus. You’ll find details on how to upload your proof of vaccination in the New Student Checklist, which contains all immunization and COVID-19 requirements.
If you have any questions about SVP Orientation, please contact me at 585-391-9990 (videophone), text me at 585-270-1797, or email amy.stornello@rit.edu.
Congratulations on your decision to join us at RIT! We look forward to welcoming you to campus in August.
Sincerely,
