Academic Requirements

As you prepare to launch your academic journey at RIT, there are a few items you are required to complete by July 1, 2022. In order to build your first semester schedule, your academic advisor will need you to complete all necessary academic items on the New Student Checklist.

Complete the following New Student Checklist items by July 1, 2022:

• Send RIT your official transcripts and test scores
• Take the Math Placement Exam
• Take the Language Placement Exam

Academic Calendar
Prepare for your first semester at RIT by viewing the Academic Calendar. 

Academic Advising
RIT’s advisors are available to guide you and support you through your academic journey. Your advisor will partner with you as you take responsibility for your learning, making decisions that will positively advance your personal, educational, and professional goals.

This summer, your advisor will use the information you provide by completing the academic items on your New Student Checklist to build your first semester course schedule. Your schedule will be available for you to view in our Student Information System (SIS) in early August and you will have an opportunity to meet your advisor to discuss any questions or concerns you may have during Academic Day at Orientation. 

Academic Support Services
Progress is measured in those moments that thrust you forward toward the next experience, discovery, or breakthrough. At RIT, we offer academic support services from tutoring to access services to help all of our students continue their journey of discovery.

Digital Den

The Digital Den will soon be a part of the University Campus Store. The Digital Den is an on-campus authorized Apple® computer store and offers education pricing with savings up to $200. Dell PCs, software, photo equipment and computer accessories are also available. Shipping or in-store pick up is available.

Reminder:

Have you started your Virtual Orientation?

As we mentioned in the first newsletter, all incoming students must complete all RIT Virtual Orientation modules before you arrive on campus for your in-person Orientation experience. You can go through this program at your own pace. If you need to take a break, you can log back in at any time and pick up where you left off. The virtual orientation experience will provide you with important information, including an introduction to services and resources, to help you successfully launch your RIT journey. 

If you have not set up your RIT email account yet, please complete the setup process immediately by following the instructions sent to the email provided on your admissions application. If you need assistance please contact the RIT Service Center.
