What to Expect at Move-In and Orientation Webinar
If you have not already, please register for one of our two What to Expect at Move-in and Orientation webinar sessions. The first session is this evening from 7-8 p.m. A second session is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 10, from 7-8 p.m.
Welcome Day Schedules
The family schedule for Welcome Days can be found on the Orientation website. Please print or take a screenshot of the schedule prior to arriving on campus for your student's Welcome Day. A limited number of print schedules will be available at the Family Welcome Table, which will be located near Orientation Check-In. Welcome Day programming is not mandatory and is flexible in order to accommodate each family’s individual needs.
Student Orientation Schedule
Students will be required to sign into RIT CampusGroups and click on RIT Orientation 2023 to access the Orientation app and Orientation schedule. The Orientation app will be used to track attendance and will help students access Orientation programming. Detailed instructions are included in today's New Student Newsletter, so please encourage your student to check their RIT email sometime this week.
Virtual Orientation
Please remind your student to complete the RIT Virtual Orientation. This mandatory orientation experience provides students with important information, including an introduction to services, and resources, and helps them successfully launch their RIT journey. They should complete all modules by the start of RIT’s in-person Orientation, Aug. 22. Parents can also view the Virtual Orientation as a guest.
Move-in Instructions
If your student is living in RIT housing, please make sure they confirm their appointment time in the myRIT portal
and print their move-in dashboard pass and luggage tags before you arrive on campus. It is essential to arrive on your selected day and time in order to alleviate congestion and provide the best move-in experience for all.
Move-in process for Residence Halls assigned students:
- Enter RIT at the main entrance off Jefferson Road onto Lomb Memorial Drive. Turn right onto Levi Ward Road. Turn left onto Willam and Mortimer Reynolds Drive and another left into H Lot.
- Enter the lane based on your student's last name to pick up your student's room key and RIT ID. The great news–you can do the entire key pickup directly from your car.
- Exit the lot and turn left onto Andrews Memorial Drive. Follow the colored balloons to your student's Residence Hall. You will enter your assigned colored drop zone
where you can park and unload your car to begin moving in.
- After you unload your car, you will be directed to a parking lot near the Residence Halls.
Move-in process for RIT Inn assigned students:
- Please go directly to the RIT Inn (5257 W. Henrietta Rd, Henrietta, NY 14467) and pick up your student's key and RIT ID at the front desk.
