Marine Carpuat, an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, will present a talk titled "A Human-Centered Approach to Trustworthy Machine Translation".  The presentation will detail how to reframe evaluation toward providing actionable feedback that helps users assess the impact of translation errors through techniques based on large language models.

Global Perspectives: Saunders Students Explore the Swedish Healthcare Model

This past spring break, students from eight different fields of study traded the classroom for the cobblestone streets of Stockholm, Sweden. As part of the Global Health Care Management and Innovation graduate course, students immersed themselves in one of the world’s most renowned healthcare systems to understand key differences between American and Swedish health care.

The human eye is a biological camera, and its lens, like all lenses, can only focus on one wavelength at a time. Scientists have yet to determine which wavelength this is.
