Automatic Assessment of Child Language and Adult L2 Acquisition with Neural Language Models - 2025-26 Distinguished Computational Linguistics Lecture

Kenji Sagae, Ph.D. (UC Davis) presents "Automatic Assessment of Child Language and Adult L2 Acquisition with Neural Language Models." He will discuss a fully data-driven approach using small, lightweight neural language models that produce results comparable to metrics carefully designed by experts, without the need for linguistic expertise.

CHAI Seminar: Advanced PhD Student Talk by Calvin Nau, PhD student, Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, RIT
