Tips and Tools for Research Writing Workshop

Led by Ruth Book, this workshop focuses on essential tools and techniques for academic writing. Discover how to develop your research into compelling, well-structured writing. Whether you're getting started or refining your writing, this session will help you enhance your ability to engage with academic dialogues and present your ideas clearly. This is a hands-on workshop to give you practical experience, so bring your laptop. Coffee and snacks will be provided.

A panel of employers will share advice for interviewing and offer tips on how to stand out at the career fair. Learn the best ways to prepare for the fair, the importance of an elevator pitch, what employers look for in a candidate, and more. Come with questions!

Career Fair Prep: Elevator Pitch Practice

Where: Campus Center, 2610/2650 Bamboo Rooms

Stop by to practice your elevator pitch for the career fair with our Career Services coordinators. Can’t make it right at 5:15 p.m.? No worries, stop by any time during this hour!

An elevator pitch is a 60-second or less introduction that quickly explains who you are, your expertise/goals, and your interest in the company. This was the number one tip employers said students should have for the career fair.

University-Wide Career Fair

When: October 8, 2025, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Where: Gordon Field House

Meet with employers, large and small, recruiting talented problem-solvers like you for co-op, internship, and full-time positions!

Interview Day is October 09 from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm in Gordon Field House only for students whom employers invite to interview.

Tips for University-Wide Career Fair Check-in

  • Bring RIT ID

  • Bring a portfolio/folder with resumes

  • Dress professionally

  • Leave bags at home

  • Leave car at home and take shuttle

  • The campus shuttle will run a continuous loop to Gordon Field House

  • Enter Gordon Field House on upper entrance or SLC/Quarter Mile - Check-in begins at 9:30 am. Field House floor opens at 10:00 am.
