Into the ROC: Queering Democracy Exhibit at the Rochester Contemporary Art Cente

Discover the history of queer art as it has achieved greater prominence in recent years. The Queering Democracy exhibit at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center invites artists to showcase their art as a poignant response to alarming rise of anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation sweeping the nation. There are currently over 540 state-legislated bills threatening the rights and needs of non-binary individuals, including targeted measures against transgender people. From restricting Drag performances to censoring school curriculum and banning books, the echoes of past discrimination are hauntingly reminiscent.

New micro-technique to differentiate pathogens faster discovered by RIT researcher

RIT researcher Blanca Lapizco-Encinas found new ways to identify those mutations faster. Resurrecting an older theoretical technique that can be used for analyzing pathogens that cause disease, her work could improve how clinicians develop more effective treatments.

Science, engineering, and computing faculty will become research building’s first resident

As the final phase of the new research building is completed, faculty-researchers from three of RIT’s colleges are preparing to be its first residents. They expect to move into the 39,000-square-foot building in the spring semester.

Exhibit bridges generations of alumn

The exhibit, located in the RIT Archives Photo Alumni Gallery, showcases Toni Pepe’s journey as a photography educator and artist, exploring themes of women in society and motherhood. The project fosters connections between alumni and RIT through curated exhibits and oral histories.
