Ph.D. Program Launching Fall 2023
Saunders Launches a Ph.D. in Business Administration

Saunders College of Business launches its Ph.D. in business administration starting fall of 2023, marking the university’s inaugural social sciences doctoral program.

Unlike traditional Ph.D. programs in Business Administration, the program is designed to inspire and train scholars to identify, investigate, and solve novel business challenges that influence business and society, particularly technological changes.

The program pushes the bounds of conventional business disciplines of marketing, management information systems, strategy, and finance and accounting by integrating technology and innovation in the three areas of specialization: digital transformation, finance and accounting, and strategy and innovation.

Saunders faculty engage in a wide variety of research initiatives that go hand-in-hand with this new program’s goals. Consumer behavior analytics, health information technology, blockchain innovation, and e-business are just a few of our faculty’s current research areas.

Dean Jacqueline Mozrall

"Our new doctorate program is a timely and unique one. It pushes the limits of traditional business education with its attention to how novel technological advances impact business functions," said Dean Jacqueline Mozrall. "The program looks at both humans and technology–and how the two interact in the business world. Throughout the doctoral program, students will explore the “what,” the “how,” and the “why” of business opportunities and challenges brought on by technological innovation."

RIT’s strategic plan calls for adding more advanced graduate degrees and higher levels of research. The Ph.D. in business administration program is one of the new programs that are part of this strategic initiative. Rochester Institute of Technology is listed as a “high research activity university” thanks to the growth and continuous efforts over the past few years to boost doctoral and research programs.
