My fellow Tigers,
These recent days have felt emotionally heavy. We have been through so much, and many of you have been asking how we can move forward despite the pain. I have been profoundly moved by the outpouring of concern for how we tend to well-being on our campus. It is clear that mental health matters. YOU matter. And together, we must demonstrate what a caring community looks like at RIT.
Well-being is not just a concept. It is an action. It is the glass of water you consume when you get up in the morning. It’s the game of pick-up basketball you play with your friends. It's the text you send to your roommate to ask how their midterm went. It's the music you listen to as you stroll down the Quarter Mile.
Well-being is something we must continue to put into action, not despite the heaviness we have endured in recent days, but because of it. We hope that this week's newsletter brings you hope and serves as a reminder that at RIT, we have so many ways to build a community of care and well-being. I encourage you to review what we have to offer through this lens of hope and resilience, knowing that we each have the power to make a difference and to embody the values we proclaim.
We acknowledge that we have included a lot of information in this special edition newsletter but want you to know that no matter how you are feeling, you are not alone. Throughout this newsletter, you will find various suggestions from our CaPS team about how to cope with and manage stress, and you will learn about opportunities to engage and connect with resources at RIT and beyond.
Take care, my Tigers. We see you and we are with you. Be well.
