RIT’s Office of Career Services and Cooperative Education believes in preparing our students from underrepresented and diverse backgrounds to be successful in their career development. Through our diversity recruitment initiatives we strive to assist our students in finding employment, both co-op and full time, with organizations that value diversity.
Our Career Services Office has developed strong relationships with various student organizations related to diversity, as well as many of the administrative departments on campus who work in the area of multi-cultural student support.
We will work closely with you to customize a recruitment strategy that aligns with your diversity objectives. Check out our new Recruiter's Guide for comprehensive information!
Our Office will work directly with you to target your recruitment efforts and to plan effective recruiting events for specific groups. We can also provide data on enrollment numbers to assist you with your planning.
The evening before each fall University-wide Career Fair we host the Affinity Reception. This is a reverse style fair where student groups have tables and employers are invited to interact with them in a less formal setting. This is a great opportunity to meet students before the event.
One of the most effective ways to reach students directly is to get involved with student groups and organizations. RIT has more than 25 career related organizations including:
American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)
Engineers of Color Creating Opportunity (ECCO)
National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
Society of Asian Scientist and Engineers (SASE)
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)
Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
Women in Business (WIB @RIT)
Women in Computing (WIC @RIT)
Women in Engineering (WE @RIT)
Women in Technology (WIT @RIT)
Join this specialized LinkedIn group to connect with students, other employers and career services professionals interested in the area and topic of diversity recruiting.
If you would like to have your company highlighted on the student page of our website in the Diversity Spotlight please send a brief overview of your company, a logo, diversity recruiting programs that you have in place, and why diversity is important to your organization to Diedra Livingston, Assistant Director of Diversity Initiatives, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Various employers will be highlighted during the year.
