Markopoulos named IEEE Senior Member, appointed associate editor
Panos Markopoulos, associate professor of electrical and microelectronic engineering, director of the RIT Machine Learning Optimization and Signal Processing (MILOS) Lab, and core faculty member of the RIT Center for Human-Aware AI, was elevated to the rank of IEEE Senior Member (SMIEEE). The elevation is through a nomination, recommendation, review, and selection process that examines one’s contribution in the field of electrical engineering. About 10 percent of IEEE members are in the rank of SMIEEE. In addition, Markopoulos was appointed associate editor of IEEE Transactions of Artificial Intelligence.

Student team wins first SAE clean snowmobile competition
RIT’s Clean Snowmobile team took first place at the recent SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge. It was the first time since the team began competing more than 10 years ago that the determined group dashed through the snowy terrain of Michigan to take top honors among 13 teams competing in the annual tournament in March.
