I love my college experience in the College of Science and Applied Technology because my major is smaller than others in the college. This allows me to have smaller class sizes, individual attention, as well as almost direct access to help from the teachers. This is also true for all of my classes within my first year of schooling here at RIT. I like my program because it is something I have always been interested in, and it allows me to dive head-on into all different types of sciences. I also have an outstanding college experience because I live on the special interest house Engineering House floor in my dorm which has combined beautifully with CAST and my classes for academic and social success, especially in a brand new environment. I decided to come to RIT for multiple reasons, particularly the accessibility of labs - you can simply walk through each building and see all the technology available to students! The co-op program at RIT is also an amazing opportunity, and RIT and the Environmental Sustainability, Health, and Safety program have some really amazing connections to real-world industries that hire the students even before graduation. ESHS also has a small and hardworking staff and faculty, so schedule planning, asking questions, and even just stopping by to say hi or see if there are any research opportunities is really easy and personal, unlike at larger schools or in larger programs. Overall, the community in my department is very welcoming, and the faculty is happy to help you with whatever you need. All of the opportunities RIT presents a student with truly are amazing.
