Hospitality & Service Innovation-Food Management
I began my studies at RIT in electrical engineering but soon realized that it was not the major for me. I discovered I was better suited working in an environment where I would be making people happy and was instantly drawn to the hospitality program. After being given a tour of the Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Department, by one of their staff members, and was greeted with a warm smile by everyone we encountered during the tour, I knew this was the department where I belonged. That is one of my favorite parts of this program - everyone knows each other and greets one another with a smile. From staff to staff; to student to student, everyone is pleasant and truly enjoyable to interact with! It also really means a lot to me that you are able to create relationships with the professors, it makes learning from them more fun and it makes it so much easier to ask questions. This program is also great for networking for internships or post graduation work. Every staff member knows people in the industry, whether it be friends, former coworkers or alumni and they are always willing to help you with making a connection. To me this is invaluable not only for the networking opportunity, but is also shows that faculty and staff really care because they are always willing to help in any way they can. It is a big family up in the department and it makes learning and growing an amazing and enjoyable experience.
