AWARE-AI Workshop: When AI Produces Informational Voids

This AWARE-AI workshop, facilitated by Dr. Jesús Aguilar of RIT's Department of Philosophy, will focus on Generative AI and the availability of information.

Generative AI is often discussed in terms of the information it produces, but it can also transform what people are able to know. This workshop explores that possibility through the concept of an informational void, understood as a situation in which information that would otherwise be available becomes difficult or impossible to access reliably. We will consider how AI can contribute to such voids not only through deletion or concealment, but also through the production of misleading, excessive, or unreliable information that obscures what is true. Through discussion and case analysis, participants will examine questions about epistemic agency, responsibility, consent, and the ethical consequences of AI-mediated informational environments.
