Chill Out Under the Lunar Eclipse!
Event Details: On the night of August 27, 2026, the Moon will slowly creep through the Earth's shadow, creating a nearly total lunar eclipse. It's a slow but steady spectacle in the sky, best enjoyed with a lawn chair or blanket on the lawn. Starting at 10:00 PM, visitors are invited to watch the show at the RIT Observatory; the eclipse reaches its peak around midnight, and the grounds will close at 1:00 AM. Bring a friend or two so you can have a pleasant conversation with a celestial background.
This event takes place late into the evening and is very slow-paced. Guests should think carefully before bringing small children or those with short attention spans. It is also a good idea to dress more warmly than normal and bring insect repellent.
