DESCRIPTION:
RIT/NTID’s Substance and Addiction Intervention Service
for the Deaf invites you to a presentation by Deaf guest speaker Clyde
Catron as a part the Red Ribbon Week campaign to raise awareness of
drug-use prevention. Join us on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, 6-8
p.m., in CSD Student Development Center 1300/1310.

Catron will discuss significant challenges he faced, including
homelessness, incarceration, and experiences with methamphetamine (meth)
and alcohol use disorders. He shares his story of addiction and recovery
as he aims to reduce the stigma of substance use disorder and inspire
others seeking change. Now in recovery, Catron leads with authenticity
and a deep commitment to healing both for himself and the communities he
serves.

Catron was an active student leader at Gallaudet University, where he
served as president and vice president of Student Body Government and was
honored as Buff and Blue Writer of the Year. He is currently
studying drug and alcohol counseling at Los Angeles City College, hoping
to use his lived experience to guide and empower others on their recovery
journeys.

This event is free and open to the public, but <a
