Abstract
:

Completing a bachelor's degree in science instills a more coherent understanding of the fundamental nature of reality, while simultaneously opening the door to whole new worlds of opportunity. Some choose to continue the quest for knowledge by pursuing a Master’s or PhD. Others go straight for a career in the broad spectrum of industry, where they can start using their skills to advance the cutting edge of technology and manufacturing. The “right” choice is truly subjective. I chose the latter, and while the path to a successful career isn’t always linear, my experiences are one example of how perseverance paves the way to a fulfilling role in optics.

Speaker Bio:
Anthony Reiter designs thin film coatings for high-power laser optics, which enable applications in aerospace and defense, additive manufacturing, medicine, and more. Other responsibilities in his role include operating metrology equipment, communicating with customers, and working with fellow engineers, scientists, and technicians to find solutions to problems throughout production. He received a BS in Physics (2016) from RIT.

Intended Audience:
All are welcome. Those with interest in the topic.
