Plenary Talk: Building Human-AI Systems for the Agentic Enterprise

Dr. Yunyao Li, Adobe Experience Platform will present a plenary talk From Knowledge to Action: Building Human-AI Systems for the Agentic Enterprise.

ABSTRACT: For the past two decades, enterprise AI has been a story about knowledge—systems that store, retrieve, and increasingly reason over it. With the rise of large language models, the shift now underway is sharper: AI that doesn't just inform decisions but helps carry out the work itself. Yet enterprise workflows remain challenging because they span specialized knowledge, complex processes, organizational boundaries, and consequential actions. In this talk, I will explore what changes when agents enter the workflow in complex enterprise environments. In particular, I will discuss the challenges of building human-AI systems that bring together knowledge, tools, policies, approvals, and execution into coordinated workflows that adapt to business context while maintaining appropriate human oversight. This shift raises new questions about trust, accountability, governance, and the division of labor between people and AI. I will conclude with a research agenda for human-aware, responsible AI systems that help organizations move reliably from knowledge to action.
