Tarrant Clements in Conversation with Wendy Marks
Tarrant Clements in Conversation with Wendy Marks
5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10
University Gallery
Spanning 50 years of exploration in printmaking and sculpture, RIT alumna Tarrant Clements '68 MFA (ceramics) has explored countless printmaking techniques, always searching for something deeper. Her work is an exploration of color and form, a deeply personal way to understand how space is shaped.
Wendy Marks '77 BFA (textile design) recently retired after 14 years as Shop One director, and 10 years as exhibitions director for University Gallery, where she generated countless connections with RIT art and design students, faculty, staff and especially alumni, many of whom maintain their creative practices long after graduation.
"Tarrant Clements: The Shape of Space" is curated by Maddy Schoenfeld '20 BFA (metals and jewelry design), '23 MBA, who recently completed five years of managing Shop One and organizing Beyond Fashion, a Vignelli design-inspired fashion show and exhibition.
Clements, Marks and Schoenfeld are artists whose collaboration is evident in this impressive exhibition, which is only a fragment of their larger contributions to RIT and the arts community of Rochester and beyond. Join us for a conversation to find out more about it! The exhibition is on view through Oct. 17.
