RIT’s Vignelli Center for Design Studies is hosting a summer workshop for professional designers who will receive a didactic experience split between RIT and The Corning Museum of Glass.

The weeklong workshop is set for Sunday, June 12 to Saturday, June 18, 2022.

Designers from any discipline will be introduced to the extensive archives of the Vignelli Center that catalogs decades of process and innovation from the influential designer duo, Lella and Massimo Vignelli. Participants will reflect on the Vignellis’ design thinking and consider how to engage with the historic visionaries while finding their own voice in the iconic and challenging materiality of glass.

Inspired by the Vignelli Archives, participants will develop a project they will explore under the supervision of Vignelli Center staff and through the facilitation of master craft glassblowers from the world-class Corning Museum of Glass. Each participant will leave with a 3D-printed prototype from RIT’s Fab Lab and their final glass project fabricated at The Corning Museum of Glass.

The Vignelli Center-Corning Museum workshop is limited to 10 designers. Applications have been extended and are now due Tuesday, March 1.
