Have you taken a close look the distinct designs on the goalie masks and helmets of the Men’s hockey team over the years? Both the mask and helmet shown above have tiger elements painted on them. The custom-painted mask was worn by David Lewis, the goalie during the 1978-79 season. It was painted by Lewis’ friend Bob Dorsey, who’s now a professor in the School of Art at RIT, teaching illustration courses. The mask was designed to intimidate the opponents during games and to spread the pain from a puck impact across the whole face.
