RIT Hockey

RIT’s Men’s Hockey team is currently a part of the Division I Atlantic Hockey Association, although they weren’t always a D1 team. The team was founded in 1959, played their first varsity season in 1964, and ascended to Division I in 2005— winning two national championships along the way (one each in Division III and Division II). Since their admission into Division I, they have made it to the Frozen Four once so far, in 2010. Their home has been the Frank Ritter Ice Arena since 1968, but next year the Tigers will have a new home at the Gene Polisseni Center. The men play their final home game at Ritter Arena Saturday, March 1 2014 versus Canisius College. Both the men’s and women’s hockey teams are much loved by the RIT community, and their home games are always packed with fans - not to mention the infamous Corner Crew.
