The Sundial is a massive twenty-five foot structure that is hard to miss if you are on the residential
side of campus. Constructed by architect Alistair Bevington, the Sundial was installed in the heart
of the ResLife area in 1968. In this photo, the area surrounding the Sundial looks much different
than it does today. Landscape modifications and the addition of buildings, such as the Student
Development Center and Rosica Hall, have turned the once sparse area into a lush setting without
taking the focus away from the sculpture itself.
