Technology Upgrades

In February of 1982, RIT announced a “$4.2 million computer acquisition and installed a campus-wide computer network with 300 "intelligent" terminals.” Since then, the computers at RIT have evolved from being big and bulky to sleek and modern. The photo depicts a student working on a microfilm/fiche reader in the library, however, with the arrival of the computer the use of this particular technology quickly decreased. The evolution of technology at RIT' has played an important role in aiding RIT's vision of "preparing students for innovative, creative, and successful careers in a global society."
